GUNS, DRUGS, CASH SEIZED FROM HOMELAND SECURITY OFFICER
(Palm Bay)—Agents with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) arrested a Department of Homeland Security employee after an investigation into illegal drug trafficking from his residence. Timothy Monroe, (DOB 11-14-1967) faces charges involving trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of paraphernalia. He is currently employed as a security officer for the Transportation Security Administration based at the Orlando International Airport.
During the pre-dawn hours on Wednesday SIU agents with assistance from the SWAT team executed a high-risk search warrant at 1313 Coral Reef Rd. NW based on probable cause obtained throughout the course of three-month long investigation into information provided to agents through anonymous sources. All of the occupants of the residence, including several children between the ages of approximately one year to 16 years of age were secured as agents conducted a search of the home. The suspect was not home at the time but arrived a short time later. Agents located and seized approximately 40 grams of powder cocaine (trafficking amounts), 65 grams of marijuana packaged in individual baggies for sale, a .410 shotgun, a Kel-Tec pistol, a semi-automatic pistol, close to 100-rounds of ammunition, just over $6,100 in cash, several vehicles and various other items of paraphernalia. This individual has been involved in illegal drug trafficking for quite some time, said SIU Agent Matt Waldron. The fact that Mr. Monroe holds a position of authority for our airport security is a concern based on what weve uncovered today.
The investigation is ongoing and federal authorities have been contacted. Monroe will be held at the Brevard County Detention Center without bond and will face a judge in court as early as 1:15 PM Thursday.
